Advancing Research in Forestry for Landscape Restoration, Climate Change and Better Livelihoods.
To provide a platform for the following:
Dissemination of results from forestry research.
Exchange of scientific knowledge relevant to forestry and allied natural resources.
Follow-up to KEFRI Commercial and Investment Conference.
A build up to IUFRO Conference 2029 to be hosted by KEFRI.
The Scientific Conference and Exhibition 2026 is divided into the following themes and sub-themes:
THEME 1: Productive Trees, Forests, and Landscapes for Inclusive Societies
Tree germplasm, propagation and improvement.
Forest establishment and management for optimal productivity.
Agroforestry and commercial forestry for livelihood and climate resilience.
Integrated management for forest health and forest fires.
THEME 2: Enhancing Forest Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Resilience to Climate Change
Technologies for landscape restoration and ecosystem monitoring.
Watershed and Mangroves conservation and management for enhanced blue economy.
Integrated ecosystem valuation for sustainable and equitable futures.
Adaptive strategies for sustainable management of fragile ecosystems.
THEME 3: Forestry Innovations for Livelihood Enhancement and Circular Economy
Enhancing wood utilisation in the built environment.
Nature based enterprise for enhanced livelihoods.
Technologies for optimizing bio energy resources.
THEME 4: Forest Policy, Legislation and Institutional Frameworks for Enhanced Resilience and Livelihoods
Inclusive governance and livelihoods.
Participatory forest management, community empowerment and livelihood.
Marketing, trade and green jobs.
Adoption of forest technologies and standards.
Socio economic dimensions of climate resilience in forest communities.
THEME 5: Forests and Trees for the Future through Innovation, Education, and Partnerships
Digital tools for forestry development.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning.
Community led science.
Innovations in forestry education, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
Sustainable and innovative financing.

Author(s) whose abstracts will be accepted will prepare their full papers using guidelines below. click below for guidelines for preparing full papers.
Selected papers will with consent of the author be published in a special issue of the East African Agricultural and Forestry Journal.
The cost of registration is:
Local Students: - KES. 5,000.
Other Local Participants: - KES. 15,000.
Foreign Participants: - USD. 200.
The charges will cover; cost of conference materials, meals and refreshments.
Announcement and Call for Abstracts: February 4th 2026.
Submission of Abstracts: March 15th 2026.
Authors Notified of Acceptance of Abstracts: April 30th 2026.
Submission of Revised Abstracts with Full Papers: May 31st 2026.
Authors Notified of Acceptance of Full Paper: July 31st 2026.
Start of Conference: October 26th 2026.
The conference will be held at the headquarters of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, Muguga.
