LanTEEAL 2.0 DataBase
The Director KEFRI, Dr. Ben Chikamai on Thursday 4th March
2010 handed over The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library
(LanTEEAL 2.0 Database) external hard drive to the Information and
Technology Dissemination Assistant Director, Dr. Ebby Chagala-Odera.

LanTEEAL is a friendly, easy-to-use database that gives users
immediate access to 149 full text research journals in
agricultural sciences inclusive of forest and natural resource.
The off-line database was availed through assistance of
Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA).
KEFRI is one of the Institutions in eligible countries that took
advantage of CTA offer before December 31, 2009 and received the
database whose costs are $4,500.00 |

The director thanked CTA for its collaboration with KEFRI and most
sincerely for CTA continued assistance with research materials and
other publications.
In addition to several On-line journals and CTA publications, KEFRI
scientists will now access the LanTEEAL 2.0 journals with research
information spanning from 1993-2009 through KEFRI server or local
area network.

Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO)
Representative Mr. Rikiya Konishi an Associate Professional Officer
(with International Processes),ForestCommunication Service, Forest
Economics and Policy Division, Forestry Department FAO, Rome
visited KEFRI on 5th March 2010.
During his call Mr. Rikiya Konishi who is currently in charge on
Adaptation to Climate change, visited and had discussions with
KEFRI specialists on biotechnology issues, integrated pest
management, information communication and technology dissemination. |

REGIONAL TRAINING COURSE ON MITIGATING CLIMATE CHANGE
IN AFRICA THROUGH SOCIAL FORESTRY
KEFRI headquarters is currently conducting the KEFRI/JICA supported
Third Country Training Program (TCTP), phase II Regional training course
on “Mitigating climate change in Africa through social forestry”. The
course is scheduled to run for a duration of 5 weeks between February
8th to 12th March 2010. The course was officially opened on 8 February
2010 by Assistant Minister, Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, Hon.
Josephat Koli Nanok, M.P. Participants are drawn from eastern, central
to southern Africa countries including; Botswana, Burundi, Eritrea,
Ethiopia, Kenya,Lesotho, Malawi, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda,
Zimbabwe and Zambia,
